- Professor Kyunglim Lee's primary research interests encompass the pathophysiology of hypertension, allergy, and tumorigenesis attributed to Translationally controlled tumor protein (TCTP). Over her 28-year research career, she has particularly concentrated on unraveling the biological functions of TCTP detected in the nasal lavage fluids of allergic patients. She discovered that the cytokine-releasing activity of extracellular TCTP is generated only when TCTP dimerizes, thus modulation of dimerized TCTP may offer a strategy for the treatment of allergic diseases.
